Tri-Blade Fencing Academy was created by Maestro Craig Smith in the late 1980’s. He attended Western Michigan University, where he started fencing with instructor Lamanski. He continued beyond college with competitions until moving to Battle Creek in 1989 and joining Avante Garde Fencing Academy in Battle Creek. Avante Garde lasted less than one year after which Tri-Blade Fencing was founded.
Maestro Craig Smith built the membership of Tri-Blade Fencing to over 40 members. He has trained five other qualified instructors to assist him in the club. In 2012 the club was Incorporated . Besides having the open club night, Tri-Blade has developed other courses within public and private schools, as well as the YMCA. We at Tri-Blade, are looking to develop the I-94 corridor.
